One of its most popular products, Post-it notes, were invented by the 3M engineers and, although the adhesive used on Post-it Notes was created in 1968, the notes themselves were not introduced in the United States until 1980. Until the patent expired in the mid 90s, the products were produced exclusively in the 3M plant in Cynthiana, KY.
